Lofts in LoDo, Downtown Denver Colorado Real Estate

LoDo's red-brick structures, a great deal of which were built following an 1863 fire, are maintained in the historic manner which symbolizes the area. While in the 1920's, LoDo was famous for the Market Street red light district, while in the 1970's it was known as a warehouse center. With the Colorado Rockies baseball team coming to town and the construction of beautiful Coors Field, LoDo now has a reputation as an urban hotspot. Many of the historic warehouses have been converted into upscale lofts. Many new structures are being erected now offering lofts as well.

Now, LoDo Downtown Denver can be seen as the pivot point; every other place in the city revolves around it. It's the tenth biggest downtown in the country, offering such diverse activities, retail establishments and entertainment that it's rarely necessary to go outside the metropolitan area. What about the view there? The twenty-one mile view of the Rocky Mountains boosts the city's stature as one of the most spectacular in the nation.

The bustling metropolis provides an assortment of restaurants (more than 100), clubs, stores, art galleries, boutiques, and lofts. It is surrounded by the Denver Art Museum, the Colorado History Museum, Six Flags Elitch Gardens, the State Capitol building along with the Denver Performing Arts Complex. If downtown is the focus, the 16th Street Mall is the center of it. Created by I.M. Pei, the architect responsible for the Pyramide du Louvre in Paris and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, the Mall has a lot to be proud of.

The 16-block boulevard is lined by outdoor cafes, exclusive restaurants, tiny eateries, local retail shops and nationally known clothing stores. Out of the 5,300 hotels in the downtown area, the majority are situated within two blocks of the Mall. You can stop and catch a movie at the Denver Pavilions or check out the two-block-long Tabor Center at the Mall. Don't want to walk? Ride the complimentary shuttle that takes people from Civic Center Plaza down the 16th Street Mall into LoDo every 90 seconds.

Downtown has two distinctive areas: the modern, window-paneled skyscrapers on the east, and the city's treasured historic region, Lower Downtown (LoDo), on the west. Situated between Coors Field and the Pepsi Center, LoDo is Denver's premier location for partying after an Avalanche, Nuggets or Rockies game, or for spending time out during the week. You can have a great time late into the night in one of the 90 bars and pubs the area boasts.

Close to LoDo, the hot dog stand on 16th & Arapahoe is among Downtown Denver's best-kept secrets. Various types of unusual meats such as buffalo, venison, and elk along with unique "hot dogs" can be found by mall walkers.
