Fairplay 

The county seat, Fairplay is located at a 9,953 foot altitude. Located on an elevated area near the eastern Middle Fork South Platte River, South Park is the most populated town in the grassland basin of Colorado. The majority of the homes in town are situated on the hillside east of Colorado State Highway 9, around the area of the schools and Park County Courthouse.

The historic town located on the bluff above the river that runs beside Front Street was established in 1859; the center of the town is the retail-business district that lies along the highway. Recently, the town has received some attention as the town featured in the animated television show, South Park, aired on Comedy Central. While South Park makes geographical references that imply that Fairplay is the model for the locale of the cartoon, in reality the town is far smaller and more rustic than the town shown in the cartoon.

Alma

Located at an elevation of 10,355 feet, Alma is the highest incorporated town in the US and is a 20 minute drive from Breckenridge. The peaceful, but bustling town (pop. 180) has a few businesses, including a coffee house, health food store, a consignment store, a saloon and others.

The Town of Lake George

Located on Highway 24, Lake George is not too far from the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. During the winter, the lake itself freezes over completely, making it perfect for railroad laborers to carve out big blocks of ice for refrigeration. The Chinese bread ovens located in the nearby hills are also related to the railroad history of the town. Elevenmile Reservoir and Camp Alexander, the Scout camp for Pikes Peak Council are nearby as well.

Placer Valley

East of the Hoosier Pass is an exquisite subdivision. The subdivision is divided into markedly different areas of terrain, vegetation, views and sunshine angles by the Middle Fork of the South Platte River. Montgomery Gulch, the Reservoir and Hoosier Ridge are visible from various sections. Past Fairplay are the southern views of peaks.
